You're inside the tank, or close enough that the difference stops mattering. The whole experience spreads across three floors, starting with a submarine-style elevator that drops you into the Atlantic, then moves through a glass tunnel where tropical fish swim overhead, and finally into the Pacific zone where the sharks live.

The layout is designed so you don't backtrack or waste time figuring out where to go next. You'll move through 50 living displays that hold around 400 species — clownfish (yes, actual Nemos), green turtles, seahorses, octopus, zebra sharks, stingrays, eels. There are supervised feeding times if you want to watch the staff work, and optional touch pools scattered through if you want to get your hands wet. The newer Rainforest Adventure section has 360-degree interactive displays of jungle creatures, which sounds gimmicky until you're standing in the middle of it. Kids tend to lose their minds there. The whole thing takes between two and three hours depending on how long you linger at each tank.

One thing worth knowing: the Gentoo penguins are temporarily in a different area while their habitat gets cleaned and refreshed, so if that's the main thing you came for, check the current setup before you go. Everything else is running as normal. You'll need to bring ID that matches the name on your ticket — they do check it at the door. The place is wheelchair accessible, strollers work fine, and there's public transport nearby, so logistics aren't complicated. Once you're in, you move at your own pace; there's no rush, no guide talking at you, just you and the water and whatever catches your eye.
