The experience
You download the Operation City Quest app, get a list of nearly 120 objects to hunt across Nottingham's downtown, and set out to find them. Each object is worth a different number of points depending on how hard it is to spot. When you find one, you photograph it and submit the image through the app to score points. The 13 categories of objects keep the hunt varied. You're not just looking for the same type of thing over and over.
Along the way you'll solve riddles and complete challenges that earn you extra points. A remote guide stays in touch via text throughout the 2 hours, offering hints if you get stuck, answering questions, and cheering you on. The app shows a live leaderboard so you can see how your team ranks against others playing at the same time. The goal is to have fun, find as many objects as you can, and climb that leaderboard.
You'll need your own smartphone with the app installed to play. Public transportation options are available nearby if you're traveling without a car. The activity suits all fitness levels and works for families with infants or small children in a stroller.
