The Experience

You meet your guide inside the Liverpool Cruise Terminal and set off on foot through the city's most significant landmarks. The first stop is the Titanic Memorial, where the guide explains Liverpool's deep connection to the ship's history—the city was home to the Cunard Line and the maritime industry that built the famous liner. From there, you walk to the Three Graces: the Cunard Building, the Port of Liverpool Building and the iconic Liver Building, all Grade II listed structures that frame the waterfront and tell the story of Liverpool's role as a global shipping hub.

As you move along the waterfront and surrounding streets, the guide points out filming locations—Liverpool stands in for other cities in movies and TV shows, and the architecture itself becomes a character in those stories. You pass the Beatles Statue, sculpted by Andrew Edwards, where fans can grab a selfie with the fab four. The route then takes you to Royal Albert Dock, where you learn how the Titanic story became woven into the city's maritime identity and how the docks shaped Liverpool's development. Along the way you see the bronze statue to Bill Fury and standout architecture spanning centuries.

You pass through Derby Square to see the monument to Queen Victoria that now stands where Liverpool Castle once stood, then walk Castle Street with its medieval connections and fine buildings. The Grade I listed Town Hall comes next—one of the finest surviving 18th-century town halls in England, with predecessors dating back to the 1500s. Exchange Flags, a Grade II listed courtyard facing the Town Hall, includes the Nelson Monument from the early 1800s and played a role in World War II. The tour ends at Liverpool Parish Church, a site of worship for over 750 years, where the guide shares the church's links to the slave trade and North American history. From there it's a few minutes' walk back to the cruise terminal, though you can also stay to explore the city further.
