The experience

The tour starts with Durdle Door, the coast's most photographed landmark. You can stay on the clifftop for panoramic views or walk down to the limestone arch itself. The choice is yours. From there, the route moves to Lulworth Cove, where a horseshoe bay of white pebble beach and crystal-clear water opens up below the cliffs. Most people walk down to the beach or spend time in the village above, grabbing coffee, ice cream, or a drink at a traditional pub.

Inland, the tour reaches Corfe Castle, a thousand-year-old fortress rising above the Purbeck Hills with scars from the English Civil War still visible in its stones. You can buy a ticket to climb the hill and walk through the ruins, or stay in the village below and explore its quaint streets. A Dorset cream tea is the local move. The guide will give you the history either way. The time at each stop stretches or contracts based on what interests you.

The final leg crosses into the Isle of Portland, a small peninsula packed with history along the World Heritage–listed Jurassic Coast. You'll see the Olympic Rings Stone Sculpture viewpoint with sweeping coastal views, pass the Verne Citadel (a historic military fortress), and finish at Portland Bill, the island's southern tip. There, Pulpit Rock (a man-made formation from the 1870s shaped like an open Bible) sits beside the iconic Portland Bill Lighthouse, with views west across the 18-mile sweep of Chesil Beach. The return journey to Weymouth follows from there.

The vehicle is air-conditioned and equipped with WiFi. Bottled water is provided. Pickup and return to your hotel are included, and parking fees are covered. The tour suits all fitness levels, though the Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove stops involve optional walks down to the beach or clifftop. You set the pace.
