The Experience
The tour begins outside Glastonbury Abbey and traces the route medieval pilgrims walked. Your guide points out energetic markers and the early history of the land as you move through the streets and into the Faerie lanes, then through the Jesus field toward the Orchards of Avalon. Permission is asked before entering this sacred enclosure, a moment that sets the tone for what follows.
The climb to the top of Glastonbury Tor is the physical center of the day. Once there, your guide shares the tales of the saints, kings and Faerie folk said to dwell on the summit. Then you're left to sit in silence: a deliberate pause to absorb the place itself. After that, the group gathers in a healing ceremony, standing in circle to share what you felt or simply to be present together.
On the way down, you reach the White Spring, a candle-lit water-chapel beneath the Tor where you can fill a small container with the healing water if you've brought one, or simply splash your face. The tour ends at the entrance to Chalice Well Gardens, a World Heritage site. Entry there is optional and paid separately.

What is Glastonbury Tor and why does the tour go there?
Glastonbury Tor is a distinctive hill at the heart of Glastonbury, topped with the ruins of a church. The tour climbs to the summit because it's considered a sacred site where saints, kings and Faerie folk are said to dwell. The guide tells these stories at the top, and you sit in silence to experience the place's healing energy.
Do I need to be fit to walk this tour?
The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels. The main climb is to the top of Glastonbury Tor, which is the most demanding part of the walk, but the pace is set by the group and you move at a pilgrimage rhythm rather than a fast hike.
What happens at the Chalice Well Gardens?
The tour ends at the entrance to Chalice Well Gardens, a World Heritage site known for its healing waters. You're not required to enter, but if you choose to, you pay admission separately and can explore the gardens and the history of the well on your own time after the tour finishes.
Is there a healing ceremony, and what does it involve?
Yes. After sitting in silence at the top of the Tor, the group gathers in a healing circle ceremony. You stand together and share what you felt during the silence, or simply be present with the group: participation in speaking is optional.
Can I collect water from the White Spring?
The White Spring is a candle-lit water-chapel beneath the Tor where the tour passes on the way down. If you've brought a small container, you can collect some of the healing water. If not, you can splash your face with the water as a blessing from the land.
