A 2-hour surf class for children aged 8-13 on Towan Beach in Newquay, taught by professionally qualified coaches who tailor instruction to each group's ability. The session includes a surfboard and wetsuit, use of heated changing rooms and hot showers, and runs daily during school holidays with start times set by the tide. Max 6 children per group. All participants must be able to swim.

The experience

The lesson runs on Towan Beach, Newquay's best beginner surfing beach, and starts between 9am and 3pm depending on the tide. The operator will confirm the exact time once you book. Your child arrives, gets fitted with a wetsuit and surfboard, and spends two hours in the water with a coach who watches the group's ability and adjusts the focus accordingly. The goal is catching waves and building confidence in the ocean, not drilling technique in shallow water.

All equipment stays with the school: surfboard, wetsuit, and access to heated changing rooms with hot showers before and after. Towels and hairdryers are there, so you don't pack wet gear back to the car. The coaches are all professionally qualified surf instructors and qualified beach lifeguards, so safety is built into every session. Groups stay at a maximum of 6 children, which means your child gets real attention, not a crowd.

The school also runs a bar and restaurant overlooking the beach, and all surfers get 25% off food: useful if you're staying nearby or want to grab something while waiting for pickup. Lesson times shift with the tide throughout the week, so check in after booking to confirm when your child's session starts.
