The Experience

The tour starts at the meeting point, which is also the site of the first haunting. From there, the guide leads you through nine stops across Bristol's old city, each one a location with its own ghost story and history. You'll visit haunted pubs—one sitting on the site of an early medieval church cellar with centuries of documented sightings—and pass through streets once ruled by pirates and criminals. The guide stays in character throughout, mixing theatrics and crowd participation into the storytelling, so it's as much performance as history lesson.

One stop is a live music venue today, but the building beneath it holds a double haunting tied to Bristol's past. Another is the old bridge that gave the city its name; it's also the site of a bloody riot whose echoes, the guide will tell you, are still felt there. The final location is a Georgian square in the heart of the old docks, connected to one of the bloodiest events in English history. The whole route takes in pubs, a theatre, and streets packed with drinking houses—places that are still very much alive with stories of the dead.

All guides are costumed and in character for the duration. Public transportation stops are nearby if you need them, and service animals are welcome on the tour.
