Bournemouth self-guided tour app: Treasure hunt & hidden gems
Unlock secret Bournemouth gems on a GPS-guided treasure hunt adventure for all ages
A self-guided GPS treasure hunt across Bournemouth where you explore over 100 destinations and hidden gems at your own pace, solving clues and completing challenges to earn points in the Travel League. One ticket works for your whole group on a single device. You start anytime within the day and can cancel free up to 24 hours before. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, with wheelchair-accessible areas and surfaces throughout.
The Experience
When you arrive in Bournemouth, you log into the Loquiz app on your smartphone and the hunt begins. Hundreds of map pins appear on your screen, each one a destination or challenge waiting to be discovered. You choose which ones to visit and in what order. There's no fixed route, no guide keeping pace, no schedule to follow. The GPS guides you step by step as you move through the town and surrounding area, whether on foot or by car, taking you to places you'd likely miss on your own.
At each stop, you solve a clue, answer a quiz question from the Big Britain Quiz, or complete a challenge to earn points. The more destinations you visit and the more challenges you solve, the higher you climb in the Travel League, a nationwide leaderboard where you compete against other explorers. Friends and family travel together with just one ticket per device, so a group of five books one pass and shares the phone as you move between stops. The whole experience is built around flexibility: start whenever suits your day, move at your own speed, and dip in and out as you please.
This is not a walking tour with a guide narrating facts at each stop. It's a self-directed exploration where the app nudges you toward hidden gems and local secrets, but you're in control of the pace, the route and how long you linger. If you want to spend an hour at one location or skip ahead to the next, you do. The stress of planning is gone (the app handles the navigation and the challenge design), but the discovery is entirely yours.

How many destinations and challenges are there to explore in Bournemouth?
The app displays over 100 destinations and challenges across the Bournemouth area, so there's far more to attempt than most people will visit in a single day. You pick which ones to pursue based on your interests and how much time you have.
Can my whole family use one ticket, or does each person need their own?
One ticket works for your entire group as long as you share a single device. If you have two phones or tablets, you'd need two tickets, but a family of five exploring together on one smartphone needs just one pass.
What happens if I need to cancel after I've booked?
You can cancel free up to 24 hours before your start time, so there's no penalty if your plans change. After that window, the cancellation policy applies.
Do I need to start at a specific time, or can I begin whenever I arrive?
You have anytime start, meaning you log in and begin whenever suits your day. There's no fixed departure time or meeting point. You start on your own schedule.
Is this tour accessible if I use a wheelchair?
Yes. All areas and surfaces in the Bournemouth locations are wheelchair accessible, and public transportation options are available nearby. The app works on your smartphone, so you navigate at whatever pace works for you.
What's the difference between this and a regular guided tour?
A guided tour follows a set route with a guide leading the group and explaining each stop. This app-based hunt lets you choose your own route, move at your own pace, and discover places independently while the GPS guides your navigation and the app delivers the challenges and information.
