The experience

The boat leaves Plymouth for Plymouth Sound after a safety briefing ashore, heading first to Drake's Island. From there you sail to Royal William Yard, a Grade 1 listed naval victualling yard where you step ashore for a guided tour of the historic buildings. The route then carries you to Cawsand and Kingsand, twin villages built on smuggling trade, where the boat drops anchor for lunch and a swim if conditions allow. That evening you settle into a bell tent at Stones and Stars glamping site, equipped with a comfortable bed and solar power.

Day two takes you up the Tamar Valley. You sail to Milbrook, a waterside village, then pass Europe's largest Naval base where Naval ships and submarines are visible from the water. The route continues upriver to the Tamar Valley's upper reaches and the River Lynher, with a stop at the historic quays of Cotehele National Trust if time allows, finishing with lunch. Expert skipper Conrad Humphreys leads both days. Breakfast and dinner bookend each day at the glamping site.
