The experience

The boat leaves from Marsa Alam in the morning and heads to Marsa Mubarak, a bay known for clear water and dense coral. You get two separate snorkeling stops where you enter the water with mask, fins and life vest, moving at your own pace among the reefs. Sea turtles are common here. Dugongs (large marine mammals that graze on seagrass) are rare but possible to spot. Between the two stops, you stay on the boat, eat lunch and drink soft drinks while the Red Sea spreads out around you.

A guide who speaks English, French, German, Czech or another language travels with the group and enters the water with you. The trip runs about eight hours from pickup to drop-off at your Marsa Alam hotel. All snorkeling gear is provided. The only cost not included upfront is a national park fee, which the guide collects in cash on the boat.
