Summary

Desert quads, camels and Bedouin dinner under Sharm’s stars

You’ll feel the rush of desert wind on a quad bike near Sharm El Sheikh, ride camels as dusk falls, sip sweet Bedouin tea in a traditional tent, share dinner under lanterns with live music and dance, then gaze at Saturn and Jupiter through powerful telescopes guided by local astronomy experts—all with hotel pickup included.

experience

What’s the experience like?

I didn’t expect the sand to feel so cool on my face when we stopped our quads just outside Sharm El Sheikh. The sun was dropping fast—everything looked gold and pink, and the engine noise faded into this weird quiet. Our guide, Mahmoud, grinned and handed me a scarf (“Bedouin style,” he said), then showed us how to wrap it. I probably looked ridiculous but nobody cared. The quad bikes were newer than I’d guessed—honestly, I was nervous about driving but after that quick test loop it felt easy enough. We zipped out into the open desert in a line, dust everywhere but also this huge sky above us.

After maybe fifteen minutes (I lost track), we parked by a cluster of camels chewing lazily. I’ve never ridden one before—they’re taller than you think! The camel handler’s name was Youssef; he helped me up and laughed when I tried to say “shukran.” Riding slowly as the light changed was kind of hypnotic. At the Bedouin tent, we sat cross-legged and drank sweet tea—there’s something about that smoky smell mixed with the desert air that sticks with you. Some folks bought extra drinks but honestly the tea was enough for me.

The next part is blurry—a short quad ride again (my arms were starting to ache), then we reached this big open area where dinner was set up under lanterns. The food surprised me: grilled chicken, salads, even veggie stuff for my friend who’s vegan. There was a live show too—belly dancing and this guy spinning in a rainbow skirt so fast I got dizzy watching him. Kids loved it; adults did too actually. After dinner we walked over to these massive telescopes set up away from the lights. One of the astronomy guides pointed out Saturn’s rings—I’d never seen anything like that through a lens before. It got cold fast; bring an extra layer if you can.

The ride back felt quieter somehow—maybe everyone was tired or just thinking about what they saw up there in the sky. I still think about that view of Jupiter hanging above the dunes while my hands smelled faintly of grilled bread and dust…
