The Experience
Stepping out of the arrivals hall at Cairo airport, I spotted my name on a sign—always a relief after a long flight. Our driver, Ahmed, gave a quick wave and helped with our bags before leading us to his car parked just outside. The air was warm, even late in the evening, and you could catch that faint scent of petrol mixed with spices drifting from nearby food stalls.
The drive into Cairo felt smooth—no haggling, no confusion. Ahmed pointed out landmarks as we passed through Heliopolis and into the city center. He even handed us cold bottled water (much needed after the flight). If you’re heading to Giza, it’s about 45 minutes depending on traffic; we hit some honking at Ramses Square but nothing too wild. For departures, they pick you up right at your hotel door—no waiting around or last-minute stress. The car had good air conditioning and plenty of space for our luggage. Honestly, it made arriving (or leaving) Cairo feel way less chaotic.
