The experience
The tour starts with a 40-minute drive from your Sahl Hasheesh hotel into Hurghada proper. Your private vehicle is air-conditioned and holds either four or eight passengers depending on which option you book, so the space adapts to your group size. The driver handles all the navigation and logistics. Your job is to watch the landscape shift from the resort zone into the working city.
The stops themselves are the real draw. Al Mina Mosque opened in 2012 and covers 8,000 square meters. It's the largest and most visually striking mosque in Hurghada, built at a cost of 20 million Egyptian pounds. The Cathedral of Saint Shenouda sits in the Dahar neighborhood and looks modest from outside but has substantial interior detail worth seeing. Both sites have staff on hand to answer questions. Remember that the mosque requires covered shoulders, arms and legs (long trousers and sleeves work, plus a lightweight scarf for your head). If you arrive underdressed, you can rent an all-in-one covering for about £1 or €1. Dahar itself is the old city, where you'll walk through the local grocery market and the traditional bazaar: the kind of place where Hurghada residents actually shop, not a tourist version of one. The Marina area sits on the waterfront with 200 boat berths and a pedestrian boulevard lined with shops and restaurants. It's a different pace from the markets, quieter and more open.
The whole loop takes 4 hours door to door, with the 40-minute return drive built in. Your driver does not narrate or guide (this is a private transfer with stops, not a guided tour), so you're free to move at your own pace at each site and ask questions directly to the people there. Families with infants can bring a pram or stroller, and small children can sit on an adult's lap.

The drive is approximately 40 minutes each way. The return trip to your hotel is included in the tour time.
What's the difference between the sedan and minibus options?
The sedan holds up to 4 passengers. The minibus holds up to 8. Choose based on your group size and luggage. Both are air-conditioned and private.
Do I need to dress a certain way to visit the mosque?
Yes. Your head, arms and legs must be covered. Long trousers paired with a long-sleeved top and a lightweight scarf to cover your head are appropriate. If you're not dressed this way, you can rent an all-in-one covering at the mosque for about £1 or €1.

What are the markets in Dahar like?
Dahar is Hurghada's old city. You'll visit the local grocery market and the traditional bazaar where residents actually shop, not a tourist market, but the real working markets of the city.
