The experience
The drive from El Alamein to Giza takes most of the morning, but the private vehicle and guide handle the logistics so you don't navigate it yourself. Once you arrive at the plateau, you move through the three main pyramids (Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos), each one a different scale and age. The guide walks you through what each structure was built for and how the complex functioned as a royal burial ground.
The Valley Temple is where the mummification of King Chephren took place, and you see the stone channels and chambers that made that process possible. From there you get a close-up view of the Sphinx, the limestone guardian with a lion's body and the pharaoh's head, positioned at the edge of Chephren's funeral complex. A camel ride across the plateau or entry inside one of the pyramids can be added at checkout if you want either one.
Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one additional language, and the tour wraps in time to return to El Alamein by late afternoon. All entry fees and taxes are built into the price.
