The experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel and a drive to the Giza Plateau, where you spend time at each of the three Great Pyramids (Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure) with your Egyptologist guide explaining the theories and construction behind them. You'll have time to photograph each one and take in the scale of the structures up close.

A stop at Panorama Point gives you a single vantage where all three pyramids line up in one frame, and this is where the camel ride happens: a chance to move through the plateau the way travelers have for centuries. From there, the tour continues to the Great Sphinx, the limestone statue with a lion's body and human head, where your guide walks you through its history and you get photos with it as your backdrop. Bottled water is provided throughout the morning.

The felucca sail comes next if you've chosen it at checkout. You board a traditional wooden sailboat and spend time on the Nile, moving with the current and the wind rather than an engine.
