The experience
You start from your hotel, Nile cruise, or airport in Aswan and travel south toward Luxor in a modern air-conditioned vehicle. The route follows one of Upper Egypt's most historic paths, passing through the Nile Valley where you'll see traditional villages, palm groves, and farmland. The driver handles the navigation and timing. You decide whether to add a licensed Egyptologist guide who meets you at each temple, or book the all-inclusive option that covers entrance fees as well.
Kom Ombo comes first, a temple built on a bend in the Nile where you have roughly an hour to walk the site, take photographs, and read the inscriptions at your own speed. If you've chosen the guided option, your English-speaking guide will be there to explain the temple's dual dedication and the carvings you're standing in front of. Edfu Temple follows, one of the best-preserved in Egypt, and then Esna, where the temple sits partly below ground level and the Nile flows past its columns. Between stops, the itinerary includes time for refreshments and rest. The day is built around comfort rather than rushing.
After Esna, you continue toward Luxor and arrive at your hotel, cruise ship, airport, or the address you've chosen. The whole journey takes seven to eight hours from start to finish. Because you're traveling privately, the stops and timing can shift if you want more time at one temple or need to adjust for the heat or your own pace. The per-vehicle pricing means couples and small groups pay one transparent rate with no hidden fees.

Is this one for you?Choose the guided option if you want the history and context of each temple explained as you walk. Pick the all-inclusive package if you'd rather not stop at ticket windows. The driver-only option works well if you've read about the temples beforehand and prefer to explore independently, or if you're traveling with someone who has visited before.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 11 years); Infant (under 4).
What's the difference between the three booking options?
The Vehicle Only option gives you the driver and transportation to all three temples. You explore independently and pay temple entry fees on-site. The Guided Temple Experience adds a licensed English-speaking Egyptologist guide who meets you at each temple and explains the history and architecture. The All-Inclusive Temple Tour includes the guide plus all entrance tickets, so you walk in without stopping at ticket windows.
How much time do you actually spend at each temple?
You have approximately one hour at Kom Ombo, Edfu, and Esna to explore, photograph, and move through the ruins at your own pace. If you've booked the guided option, your guide will be with you during that time, pointing out details and answering questions as you walk.
Can the stops and timing change during the day?
Yes. The itinerary is flexible and designed around your comfort. If you want more time at one temple, need a longer rest stop, or prefer to adjust the pace because of heat or fatigue, the driver can work with you. Refreshment stops are built in, and you can ask for timing adjustments based on your preferences.
What is Kom Ombo Temple known for?
Kom Ombo is built on a curve of the Nile and is unusual because it was dedicated to two gods at once. The temple sits high above the river, and its carvings and columns are well-preserved enough that you can read the hieroglyphics and see the detail of the stonework as you walk through.
Where does the driver pick you up and drop you off?
Pickup and drop-off are door-to-door from your hotel, Nile cruise ship, airport, or any private address you specify in Aswan and Luxor. You don't need to arrange separate transport to a meeting point.
Is the vehicle accessible for wheelchairs?
Yes, the modern air-conditioned vehicles are wheelchair accessible. Infants and small children can travel in a pram or stroller, and specialized infant seats are available if you need one. Service animals are allowed.
