Fly across the canopy on ten cables strung through the mist

Ziplining in Mindo sends you across 3,600 meters of cable suspended above the cloud forest on ten separate lines, with helmet, harness, gloves and a trained guide included. The flight is broken by short walks between cable stations where you move through the forest itself and watch for toucans, tangaras and orchids. Children from age 6 are welcome, and you can perform aerial tricks (bat, butterfly or superman) at no extra cost.

The experience

Mindo's cloud forest sits high enough that the canopy work happens inside the mist itself. The ten cables carry you across 3,600 meters total, each one rigged with double lines and petzel equipment so the setup holds two people at once: you and the guide managing your descent. Between cables, you walk short forest trails where the guide points out the birds and plants the canopy hides from ground level.

The gear stays on your whole time: helmet, harness, gloves and carabiners are fitted before you start, and the guide walks you through each cable before you clip in. Once you understand the setup, the motion is simple: clip, step off, let gravity and friction do the work, land on the platform, unclip, walk to the next one. The pace is steady rather than rushed, which is what lets families with kids from age 6 move through the whole circuit together. If you want to add a trick (hanging upside down as the bat, rolling sideways as the butterfly, or stretching out like the superman), the guide can coach you through it on any cable.

The activity runs from 9am to 4pm, so you can book whatever slot fits the rest of your day. Bring water and wear clothes you don't mind getting damp from the mist. The forest stays wet even when it is not actively raining.
