Strap into a flyboard and lift off the water in under ten minutes

Private flyboarding in Manta puts you on a jet-powered board that lifts you above the water with instruction from a live guide in English or Spanish. You arrive 30 minutes early for video briefing and safety gear fitting, then move to the water's edge where the guide sets you up on the board. Most first-timers fly within 10 minutes, staying under 3 feet above the surface. Book two hours if you want to progress to a more advanced height.

The experience

Flyboarding is a water sport where a jet ski tows you via a hose connected to your board, and the thrust lifts you skyward. You'll spend your first 30 minutes on land watching video instruction and getting fitted for a wetsuit and helmet. The guide walks you through the board mechanics and what to expect once you're in the water, so you're not guessing when you step off the dock.

Once in the water, the guide positions you on the board at the shallows and gradually increases the jet ski's throttle. Most people achieve flight, actual liftoff, within about 10 minutes of that first run. Your first flight won't take you higher than 3 feet, which is enough to feel weightless and in control without the shock of altitude. The guide stays close the whole time, adjusting speed and giving real-time feedback so you can find your balance.

The one-hour session covers entry, instruction, safety gear and roughly 20 to 30 minutes of actual flight time. If you want to build toward higher tricks and longer airtime, book the two-hour option instead. A guide in English or Spanish is included, and children from age 13 are welcome. Public transportation stops are nearby if you're traveling without a car.
