The experience
The route runs seven days straight: Manta to Guayaquil by road (3 hours), then flights to the Galapagos, then Lima, then Cusco, then back to the coast. Day one is a 4-star hotel and a walking tour of Guayaquil's highlights. Day two takes you to the Galapagos highlands to see Twin Craters, a natural lava tunnel, and giant tortoises in their habitat, plus the Charles Darwin Research Station. Lunch is served on-site. Day three is a shared yacht excursion to one of three non-inhabited islands (Seymour, Plazas or Bartolome) with snorkeling and an onboard lunch. The Galapagos National Park decides which island opens that day. Days four and five move you through Guayaquil and Lima to Cusco, with a day to rest in Cusco if you want it.
Machu Picchu happens on day six. You board a train at 5:00 am for the 3.5-hour journey to Aguas Calientes, then choose between two guided circuits: the Classic Route (Circuit 2) covers the main temples, the Solar Clock, and the Temple of the Three Windows with more stairs and panoramic views, or the Lower Route (Circuit 3) walks the agricultural zone and Temple of the Condor at a gentler pace. Both require your passport number at booking. Lunch in Aguas Calientes is on your own. The train back to Cusco leaves in the afternoon. Day seven is your transfer to the airport, a flight to Lima, and a road transfer to your port: either San Martín in Pisco or Callao, whichever your ship uses.
All six nights are in 4-star hotels with breakfast included. Flights are economy class with a 10 kg carry-on allowance. Checked bags cost extra at the airport. Meals follow the itinerary day by day (some include all three, some breakfast only), and the operator covers entry to Machu Picchu and all Galapagos excursions except the national park transit card, which you pay separately. The tour operates in English or Spanish with a naturalist guide in the Galapagos and a private guide at Machu Picchu. If your ship arrives late, notify the operator two days ahead and they'll reschedule the pickup. If a flight delay makes you miss your port, they cover all transfers to get you back on board at the next stop.

Is this one for you?The itinerary starts early each day (5:00 am for the train to Machu Picchu, 6:00 am for the Cusco flight) and involves sustained walking on stairs and uneven terrain in the highlands and at Machu Picchu, so book this if you have moderate fitness and are ready for an active week. If you prefer a slower pace or need more rest days between sites, a separate Galapagos tour and a separate Machu Picchu tour give you more control over timing.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Infant (under 3).
What exactly happens on the Galapagos yacht day?
Day three is a shared yacht excursion to one of three non-inhabited islands (Seymour, Plazas or Bartolome) chosen by the Galapagos National Park based on conditions that day. Your naturalist guide leads you ashore to see the islands' wildlife and landscapes, then you snorkel in the water. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included.
Do I have to choose which Machu Picchu route before I book?
You choose between the Classic Route (more walking, more views of temples and the Solar Clock) and the Lower Route (shorter, less demanding, covering the agricultural zone) at checkout. Both are private guided tours and require your passport details for entry.
What meals are covered and which ones do I pay for?
Breakfast is included every day. Days two and three in the Galapagos include all meals; day four includes breakfast; day five includes breakfast; day six (Machu Picchu) includes breakfast, but lunch in Aguas Calientes is on your own. Dinners not listed in the itinerary are your responsibility.
How does the pickup and drop-off work if my cruise ship is delayed?
The operator picks you up inside Manta port and drops you at either San Martín or Callao port, timed to your ship's schedule. If your ship arrives late, notify the operator at least two days before and they'll reschedule the pickup. If a flight delay causes you to miss your port, they cover all transfers to reunite you with your ship at the next stop.
What luggage can I bring on the flights?
You're allowed one carry-on bag of 10 kg maximum on all flights. If you want to check a larger bag, you pay the airline's excess baggage fee at the airport. The operator suggests bringing only essentials for six nights.
Is the Galapagos National Park entry fee included?
Entry to Machu Picchu and all Galapagos excursions are included, but the Galapagos National Park transit card and biocontrol procedures are not. You pay these separately at the airport before your flight to Baltra.
