The experience
We stepped onto the catamaran in Cabo Rojo with that mix of excitement and awkwardness you get when your group’s just big enough to fill a boat but nobody’s sure where to sit. The crew greeted us with easy smiles: one guy handed me a cold frut ponch before I’d even found my flip-flops. As we pulled away from shore, music started up (not too loud, thankfully), and the water out here really does look unreal: blue-green like someone turned up the color dial. A couple of us tried to play some game involving tossing rings but mostly ended up just laughing at each other. The sun felt heavy by then. I grabbed a sandwich and sat at the edge of the deck with my feet dangling in warm water, watching pelicans glide low over the bay.
The ride back was quieter: maybe everyone was tired or just mellow from all that sun and salt air. I remember thinking how easy it felt to just drift along like that for a while, not worrying about anything except maybe who finished the last Fanta. We docked back at Cabo Rojo still salty and happy, not quite ready for real life again.
