The experience

The park bundles five or six different activities into a single admission, so you pick what appeals rather than committing to one. You're zipping through the forest canopy on Canopy Las Pavas, then walking the Los Higuerones Hanging Bridges at your own pace. The La Selva water slide drops 1,380 feet, long enough to build real speed, and feeds into a pool below. Between the adrenaline moments, you can watch the waterfalls, soak in the Pacaya Hot Springs & Spa, or take a horseback ride or tractor-pulled carriage ride through the property.

The location matters: Buena Vista del Rincón sits 2,500 feet up in the foothills of Rincón de la Vieja volcano, so you get views across the Guanacaste flatlands and out to the Gulf of Papagayo. A live guide in English or Spanish is with you. Infants can come along (they sit on an adult's lap), and the park is wheelchair accessible. The six-hour window is long enough to try most of the activities without rushing, but short enough to fit the rest of your day elsewhere.
