Step-by-step itinerary
Visit Quepos Hot Springs and Nature
- Travel from Quepos to hot springs
- Walk 50 meters to hot spring pools
- Relax in four hot spring pools
- Observe butterflies and birds in forest
- Enjoy natural stone slides in river pools
The experience
The drive out of Quepos takes you away from the main tourist area to a quiet spot where four hot spring pools sit ringed by tropical forest. Butterflies and birds move through the trees, and the sound of the river runs underneath. You walk no more than 50 meters from arrival to reach the pools themselves, so there is no long trek before you can get in the water.
Once you have swum in the thermal pools, the path continues a short way to three more pools fed by the river. Here the water slides down natural stone slides, turning the descent into the pools into part of the experience rather than just a way to get wet. The whole site stays quiet because it sits outside the Manuel Antonio crowds, and the guide keeps the group small enough that you are not jostling for space at any of the pools.
The four-hour outing includes a fruit snack and lunch, so you eat on-site rather than heading back to town hungry. You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with pickup from your hotel, and the guide speaks English or Spanish depending on what you need.
