The experience
You start at Poás Volcano, where a short 0.5 km trail (about 10 minutes each way) leads to an overlook of one of the world's largest active craters. The crater spans nearly 1.5 km across, and standing at the edge lets you see the raw geology: steam vents, sulfur deposits, the scale of the thing itself. From there, the route moves to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a single stop that holds five waterfalls, cloud forest trails, a butterfly observatory, hummingbird garden, and animal sanctuaries where jaguars, pumas, monkeys, and toucans live behind the scenes. You walk among the gardens and past the water. The park is built so you move through the landscape rather than watch it from a distance.
The final stop is Hacienda Alsacia, the world's only Starbucks coffee farm, planted across the lush mountains of the Central Valley. You walk through the scenic plantations, see how Starbucks grows, processes, and roasts its coffee, and watch sustainable farming in action. The experience ends with a freshly brewed cup you drink on the farm, looking out over the valley: a moment and a view you won't find anywhere else. A bilingual guide leads all three stops. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and pickup from your hotel is included.
