The experience
Mulguri Waterfalls sits deep in the rainforest outside Quepos, and the tour starts with pickup from your hotel in the Quepos or Manuel Antonio area. A 4x4 vehicle carries you through countryside and local villages, passing natural springs on the drive into the forest. There's a brief stop to stretch and grab a drink before you arrive at the waterfall site.
Once there, you change into your swimsuit and move through the three natural pools at Mulguri Waterfalls. The hike is low-intensity and suitable for all fitness levels, so the pace stays manageable. A suspension bridge crosses the forest canopy, offering views of the surrounding mountains and the rainforest itself. You'll swim in the clear water at each pool and have time to look for the colorful birds and plant species the guide points out along the way.
After the waterfall section, lunch happens on the patio of a local farm. A traditional Costa Rican meal made from ingredients grown on-site, eaten with mountain views. The tour wraps with a return drive to your hotel, ending the day where it started.
