A four-and-a-half-hour tour on the Caribbean Coast combining a visit to the Jaguar Rescue Center (where you meet rescued and rehabilitated animals) with a jungle hike and beach time at Punta Uvas. The experience

The Jaguar Rescue Center rehabilitates mistreated, injured and confiscated animals before returning them to protected habitats. You'll have direct contact with monkeys, wild cats, sloths, raccoons, anteaters, marsupials, reptiles and amphibians. The animals are the point, not a viewing from a distance. After the rescue center, the tour moves to Punta Uvas, where a jungle hike leads down to the beach and the water.

Four and a half hours covers both stops without rushing either one. The air-conditioned vehicle handles transport between them, and the guide speaks English or Spanish throughout. Bring close-toed shoes, clothes that can get dirty, swimsuit and towels. Sunscreen and insect repellent are essential. The fruit snack is included, though cash for beverages at the rescue center is useful to have.
