The Experience
The day begins with a boat ride down the coast to Sirena Station—about an hour of travel with the shoreline close enough to watch. Once at the station, you spend roughly five hours hiking through the rainforest with a guide who knows where to find the animals that live there: tapirs, monkeys, peccaries and whatever else moves through the canopy that morning. Corcovado is the most raw and challenging park in Costa Rica, and Sirena is where that rawness is most visible. The guide speaks English or Spanish and walks at a pace that suits all fitness levels.
Lunch happens back at Drake Bay after the hike, once you've returned by boat. Park fees and all transport are included, so the only thing you arrange is showing up. The boat ride back gives you time to sit with what you've seen—or to sleep if the rainforest wore you out, which it often does.
