The experience

The drive to Guanacaste takes roughly 6 hours depending on which hotel you're heading to.

If you're already staying in the Central Valley (San Jose, Alajuela or Heredia), the driver picks you up at your hotel at the time you choose and takes you to Guanacaste, or makes the return trip back to the airport when you're ready to leave. You control the schedule. There's no fixed departure time or shared vehicle. Bottled water is provided for the journey.
