Step-by-step itinerary

Guided bike tour with lunch and swim

  • Pickup from accommodation
  • Cycle along Ara Metua and bush tracks
  • Explore Arorangi village and landmarks
  • Listen to guide's stories and explanations
  • Picnic lunch at the beach
  • Swim to cool off
  • Drop off at accommodation

The Experience

The ride starts early and covers ground at a relaxed pace, cycling through Arorangi village on Rarotonga's west coast and past local landmarks—the CICC Arorangi church, the palace, Black Rock and village gardens. Your guide stops frequently to explain what you're seeing and to let the group catch its breath. The terrain mixes the flat Ara Metua back road with occasional lane ways and gentle bush tracks, so you're not fighting steep climbs, but you do need to be comfortable on a bike for the full five hours.

Lunch happens at the beach after the ride ends around 1pm. You get a picnic meal and time to swim and cool off before being dropped back at your accommodation. The bicycles are well maintained and helmets are provided; bring shoes that protect your feet and wear your swimwear under your riding clothes so you can go straight into the water.
