Tayrona sailing trip: Snorkel and swim from a 58ft ketch
You swim or paddle to shore instead of taking a tender boat.
A full-day sailing trip on a 58-foot ketch anchored in Tayrona National Park, where you snorkel, paddleboard and sunbathe on the beach, then sail back at 3:30 PM. The boat departs at 10:00 AM from the charter dock and returns by 5:00 PM, with lunch, one beer, and water included. The experience
The boat leaves the charter dock at 9:30 AM sharp. You need to be there by then, and departure happens at 10:00 AM without delay. Sonata is a 58-foot cutter-rigged ketch built in 1979, carrying up to 26 guests. The route motors upwind toward Bahía Concha in Tayrona National Park, passing Taganga, Playa Grande, and Aguja Island on the way. Once anchored, you either take the auxiliary boat to shore or swim straight in from the ketch.
At the beach you choose what to do: snorkel the water around the anchorage, paddleboard on a SUP, or simply sunbathe. About an hour after arrival, the crew serves lunch (grilled fish with rice, salad and plantains) plus fruit and one beer per person. Additional drinks are available to buy. The restroom is on board if you need it. At 3:30 PM everyone boards for the sail back (wind permitting), arriving between 4:30 and 5:00 PM.
If maritime authorities close Tayrona due to weather or sea conditions, the boat visits nearby bays instead: no refund in that case. Tayrona itself closes February 1–15, June 1–15, and October 19–November 2, and the operator substitutes nearby anchorages during those windows. Bring cash if you want extra drinks or beach chairs (around $2 USD). WiFi is available on board for $3 USD.

What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I snorkel right from the boat, or do I have to go ashore?
You can snorkel in the water around the anchored ketch, paddleboard on a SUP, or swim to the beach using the auxiliary boat or by swimming directly from the boat. The choice is yours depending on what you want to do that day.
What happens if Tayrona National Park is closed when I'm scheduled to go?
Tayrona closes February 1–15, June 1–15, and October 19–November 2 each year. On those dates the boat sails to nearby bays instead, and you still get the same snorkeling and beach time. No refund is given for the location change.
How much time do we actually spend anchored at the beach?
You arrive at the anchorage mid-morning and stay until 3:30 PM, giving you roughly five hours on and around the beach before the sail back begins.
What's the latest I can arrive at the dock on departure day?
You must be at the charter dock by 9:30 AM. The boat departs at 10:00 AM and cannot wait past 9:50 AM, so arriving late means missing the trip.
