You’ll glide high above Medellín with expert pilots, catch jaw-dropping views from San Félix, and relive every moment with HD videos — all without worrying about transport or gear.
The first thing I noticed as we wound up the road to San Félix was how the air changed — crisp, almost pine-scented, nothing like the city below. Our driver chatted about the best time to fly (he swears by late morning for smooth air), and I caught glimpses of Medellín’s rooftops shrinking behind us. By the time we reached the launch site, my nerves were buzzing. Locals lounged at tiny cafés nearby, sipping tinto and watching colorful wings drift overhead like kites.
Our guide, Andrés, handed out gear and checked harnesses twice — he’s flown here for years and knows every updraft. The takeoff spot is basically a grassy patch with a view that makes your stomach drop: all of Medellín spread out, green hills rolling away, clouds drifting close enough to touch. When it was my turn, I barely had time to overthink it. A few running steps, wind in my face — then suddenly we were airborne. The city looked unreal from up there: traffic just a faint hum, pockets of sunlight moving across neighborhoods like spotlights. Andrés asked if I wanted some “vueltas” (spins). I said yes before I could chicken out. We spiraled so fast my shoes nearly flew off; I couldn’t stop laughing.
The landing was soft — just a gentle bump back on earth. My hands shook as I watched my GoPro footage: me grinning like an idiot, clouds all around. Back at the van, someone bought buñuelos from a roadside stall (hot and cheesy inside). The whole thing took maybe half a day but felt way bigger than that. If you’re after something wild but safe, this is it.
