The experience

La Chorrera sits 90 minutes from Bogota and requires a two-hour walk inside Aventura La Chorrera Park to reach it. The route covers seven kilometers total, crossing natural paths through high-altitude forest with stops at viewpoints and the monkey cave. El Chiflón, a 50-meter waterfall, comes first. La Chorrera, at 590 meters and classified as Colombia's highest staggered waterfall, is the main draw. The walk is intermediate to advanced in difficulty, so moderate fitness matters.

On the return, you get to walk behind El Chiflón's curtain of water: the part most people skip. The park's fauna and flora change with the season. Between December and mid-April, water flow drops during the dry months, but the forest and rock formations stay intact. A typical homemade lunch prepared with local ingredients recharges you before the drive back to Bogota.

The tour runs seven to eight hours total. Your guide speaks English or Spanish. Park entrance and lunch are included in the shared tour with those add-ons or the private option. The basic shared tour does not include them, so choose at checkout based on what suits your day.
