The Experience

The day starts with a drive from Medellín through the countryside to Guatapé, where you'll stop at a working animal farm to see rural life up close before heading to the main attractions. Once at Pablo Escobar's mansion, the property opens up for your chosen activities: paintball with 100 shots included, or quad bikes (one per couple, both of you can drive), or both. The mansion sits on the estate grounds surrounded by the lake and landscape, and the activities happen on the property itself.

A private boat tour crosses Guatapé's lake, giving you time on the water before the group heads to El Peñol Rock. The climb is 740 stairs up the side of the rock face; the ticket costs $8 USD and is optional. The view from the top spans the lake and the surrounding hills. After that, you'll walk through Guatapé's town center, where the buildings are painted in bright colors and the Zócalos (the decorated wooden balconies) cover nearly every facade.

Lunch happens in town at a local restaurant serving regional dishes, though it's not part of the package price. Private transportation brings you back to your Medellín hotel at the end of the day. A guide speaks English or Spanish throughout, and the tour accommodates children from age 6 onward. If you want an extra quad bike beyond the one included per couple, you can rent one for $90 USD.
