The experience

The day starts with a drive from Medellín through the countryside to Guatapé, where you'll stop at a working animal farm to see rural life up close before heading to the main attractions. Once at Pablo Escobar's mansion, the property opens up for your chosen activities: paintball with 100 shots included, or quad bikes (one per couple, both of you can drive), or both. The mansion sits on the estate grounds surrounded by the lake and landscape, and the activities happen on the property itself.

A private boat tour crosses Guatapé's lake, giving you time on the water before the group heads to El Peñol Rock. The climb is 740 stairs up the side of the rock face. The ticket costs $8 USD and is optional. The view from the top spans the lake and the surrounding hills. After that, you'll walk through Guatapé's town center, where the buildings are painted in bright colors and the Zócalos (the decorated wooden balconies) cover nearly every facade.

Lunch happens in town at a local restaurant serving regional dishes, though it's not part of the package price. Private transportation brings you back to your Medellín hotel at the end of the day. A guide speaks English or Spanish throughout, and the tour accommodates children from age 6 onward. If you want an extra quad bike beyond the one included per couple, you can rent one for $90 USD.

The Guatapé + Paintball option covers the mansion, paintball, and the town visit, but removes the boat tour and quad bikes. All three include the animal farm and the town walk. The rock ticket is separate in every option.

Can both people in a couple drive the quad bikes?

Yes. The tour includes one ATV per couple, and both riders can take turns driving across the estate. If you want a second quad bike so you can ride at the same time, you can rent one for an extra $90 USD.

Is the El Peñol Rock climb included, or do I pay extra?

The rock entry ticket costs $8 USD and is not included in any of the three options. You can choose to climb or skip it. The guide will wait at the base if you decide not to go up.

What happens at Pablo Escobar's mansion during the tour?

The mansion sits on an estate surrounded by the lake. Depending on which option you book, you'll do paintball (100 shots included), ride quad bikes across the grounds, or both. The activities take place on the property itself, and the guide leads the group through the experience.
