The experience

You meet at the clock on Calle Real, Salento's main street, and board a traditional public Jeep Willys (the iconic rural transport of the region) for the ride into Cocora Valley. The jeep carries you from town into the countryside, and from there the hike begins along quiet rural paths that lead into the Andean forest. The walking is steady and unhurried, surrounded by lush vegetation and the sounds of birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

As you walk, your guide shares the local traditions, slangs, and history that make this region distinct. Along the way you stop to enjoy fresh Colombian fruit and a traditional hot drink, moments built into the route so you can rest and take in the valley. The hike ends where it began (in the landscapes and sounds that define Cocora Valley), and you return to Salento by jeep.
