The experience
How do you want to spend three hours in a UNESCO World Heritage city? That's the question your guide asks before the walk begins. Whether you're drawn to the Spanish colonial architecture, the gold and Inquisition museums, the street art, or the local food scene, the route adjusts to match. You'll move through the walled city's stone streets (the ones that survived centuries of trade and conquest), and stop at the sites that actually matter to you instead of following a fixed list.
The Naval Museum sits inside a 3,500-square-meter colonial building that served as a Jesuit school, then a hospital, then a military barracks. Its two wings hold the architecture of three centuries and the history of Colombian independence. You'll also slip into colonial-republican properties and hidden courtyards that most visitors miss, see street murals and galleries tucked into the old vaults, and learn how daily life actually worked in these periods, not just the grand narrative, but the local reality under Spanish rule.
When you've walked enough, you stop. Your guide takes you to a rooftop or terrace with views across the Caribbean, and you sit with a tropical drink in hand while the light changes. If you book an afternoon departure (2:00 pm or later), this happens as the sun moves toward the water. Along the way, your guide brings surprises: a tasting of something local, a shop you wouldn't have found alone, a detail about a building that makes the whole street make sense.

Is this one for you?Book an afternoon departure if you want the rooftop drink timed to the sunset. Morning starts skip the sunset stop but give you more daylight to explore the streets and museums. Either way, the guide builds the walk around what draws you (history, architecture, food or art), so you're not following a script.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 12 years); Infant (3 to 5 years). Children under 3 can't be included in the booking.
What's inside the Naval Museum of the Caribbean?
The Naval Museum occupies a colonial building from the early 1600s with two wings: the Colonial Wing preserves the original architecture from when it was a Jesuit school and later a hospital, and the Republican Wing holds neoclassical design and exhibits on Colombian naval history and independence. The building itself is the artifact.
Does the guide customize the route, or is it the same every day?
Your guide tailors the walk to your interests before you start. If you care about history, architecture, food, art or fashion, the stops and the pace shift to match. That's why the itinerary is flexible. It's built around what you actually want to see.
Is the rooftop drink included, or do I pay extra?
The tropical drink on the rooftop is included. Alcoholic drinks are available to purchase if you'd like something beyond the included option.
