The experience
The tour starts at Monserrate Mountain, where you ascend by cable car or funicular to 3,150 meters and stand above the entire city. The monastery sits at the top, and the view frames Bogotá spread across the valley below. From there, the guide takes you down into La Candelaria, the colonial neighborhood where the city was founded in 1538, walking cobblestone streets and colonial architecture to reach Plaza de Bolívar, the political and religious center of Colombia.
Between the major stops, you taste your way through Bogotá's food culture. A traditional market square introduces you to local fruits, where you choose a natural juice made with typical Colombian flavors. Later, in La Candelaria itself, you experience a guided tasting of Colombian coffee (the kind recognized worldwide for its softness and quality), and learn its cultural importance to the country. The fritters and traditional fruits that come with these tastings connect you to how locals eat and drink.
The route also includes the Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Center, designed by architect Rogelio Salmona and known for its brick architecture and open square that blends art with the city itself; one of Latin America's most important libraries; and a colonial temple declared a National Monument, with sacred art reflecting the city's spiritual history. Organized transfers move you between each stop, so you don't navigate the city yourself, and a bilingual guide (Spanish and English) explains what you're seeing at each site. Medical assistance insurance covers the whole experience.

Is this one for you?Choose the 5-hour option if you're arriving with a free afternoon or have limited time in Bogotá and want to see the main historical and cultural sites in one outing. The 7-hour version gives you more time at each stop and a slower pace through the city. Both include the same sites and tastings, so the difference is how much time you spend at each one.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (13 to 17 years); Child (3 to 12 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is Monserrate Mountain and why start the tour there?
Monserrate Mountain rises 3,150 meters above Bogotá and holds a historic monastery at its peak. You reach it by cable car or funicular, and from the top you see the entire city spread across the valley below. It's the vantage point that orients you to Bogotá's geography and scale before exploring the colonial center on foot.
What exactly happens during the Colombian coffee tasting?
The coffee experience is a guided tasting of Colombian coffee in La Candelaria, where the guide explains the country's coffee culture and why Colombian beans are renowned for their softness and quality. You taste the coffee itself and learn its significance to Colombian identity and economy.
Where is La Candelaria and what makes it the heart of the tour?
La Candelaria is the historic colonial neighborhood where Bogotá was founded in 1538, filled with cobblestone streets and colonial architecture. It's where you walk to Plaza de Bolívar (the main square surrounded by the country's most important political and religious buildings), taste coffee, visit the Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Center, and see the National Monument temple, so most of the cultural and historical stops cluster here.
Do I need to arrange my own transport between stops?
No. Organized transfers are included throughout the tour, so the guide handles moving you between Monserrate, the market, La Candelaria and each cultural site. This lets you focus on what you're seeing rather than navigating the city yourself.
What food and drink are included, and will I need to buy lunch?
The tour includes tastings of traditional fruits, natural juices made with typical Colombian flavors, fritters, and a guided Colombian coffee experience. Lunch is not included, so you can choose where and what to eat based on your own preferences and timing during the day.
Is this tour physically demanding or suitable for someone visiting Bogotá for the first time?
The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels and is wheelchair accessible, with all areas and surfaces accessible. The cable car takes you up Monserrate, so you don't climb. The walking through La Candelaria and between cultural sites is at a normal pace. It's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health due to the altitude (3,150 meters at Monserrate), but otherwise it's designed for first-time visitors who want to see the city's main historical and cultural sites without arranging the details themselves.
