The Experience

The day starts at Shanghai Zoo, a state-level facility with more than 6,000 animals across five exhibition zones. You'll spend time in the Carnivore zone watching giant pandas in a fan-shaped habitat with indoor and outdoor areas, trees, lawns, artificial mountains and pools. From there, the metro takes you to Qibao Ancient Town, a water-town district in Minhang with over a thousand years of history. The Cricket Museum there shows live cricket fighting, and the old streets are lined with local snacks and shops—the kind of place you can explore without the crowds or the distance of other water townships near Shanghai.

After Qibao, you head to Shanghai Tower, the city's tallest building at 632 meters. A rapid elevator reaches the 118th floor in 55 seconds, where the Top of Shanghai observation hall gives you a bird's-eye view of the city and both sides of the Huangpu River.
