The experience

The day starts with pickup from your Hong Kong hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. The driver takes you to Ngong Ping 360 cable car station, where your fast-track tickets let you skip the queues and board the famous cable car. The 25-minute ride crosses the South China Sea, passing over lush mountains and Hong Kong International Airport, before arriving at Ngong Ping Village: a blend of traditional Chinese architecture, tea houses, and shops built into the hillside.

From there, you walk to the Big Buddha, a 34-meter bronze statue completed in 1993. Climbing the 268 steps to the platform takes time, but the views from the top stretch across Lantau Island and back toward the coast. After the Buddha, the guide leads you to Po Lin Monastery, a spiritual site founded in 1906. The monastery's ornate halls, prayer rooms, and gardens sit in a quiet setting where you can move at your own pace and learn about Buddhist traditions from your guide. The whole experience spans around five hours before the return transfer to your hotel.
