The experience
Your guide and driver pick you up from your hotel in Xi'an: normally a two-hour drive to the mountain. Once there, you decide which route suits your fitness and how much time you want to spend hiking. Route A uses the North Peak cable car both ways and is the cheapest but demands good stamina if you want to cover all the peaks. Route B goes up and down from West Peak, the most expensive option but with the longest distance covered by cable car and the best views at the summit. Route C splits the difference: cable car up to West Peak, then down from North Peak, letting you see all three peaks without the full physical demand.
After several hours of hiking, your guide brings you back to Xi'an. The tour runs nine to ten hours total. Bring your own snacks and lunch: the operator suggests fast food or packed items you can eat quickly. Wear comfortable hiking shoes. A moderate level of physical fitness is needed, and the mountain involves steep, narrow sections. If you need to catch a flight or train afterward, let the operator know in advance so they can time the return.
