The experience

The route begins in Arica's city center, where Eiffel-era iron structures built since 1874 sit alongside the 1926 Maritime Governorate and the Ferrocarril Arica–La Paz railway terminal. You move through Vicuña Mackenna Square, where the national cueca championship takes place, then head to the former Scorpion Island and the Laucho spa before climbing toward the Morro de Arica.

At the summit, you stand at the Christ of Peace monument, erected under the 1929 treaty, and the Unknown Soldier Monument, with a panoramic view of the city spread below. The Historical and Arms Museum documents the naval combat of Arica and the assault on the Morro itself, preserving the military history that shaped the region. La Lisera Beach offers a quieter moment before the tour concludes, and the Craft Village rounds out the circuit with local artisan work and products from the five valleys of the Arica and Parinacota region, plus goods from Peru and Bolivia.

Your guide speaks Spanish and travels with you in the air-conditioned vehicle. Water, a cereal bar and fruit come with the booking, and the whole experience fits into your schedule, whether you have an hour or most of a morning.
