A jet ski class in Jersey's sheltered bay where you receive full tuition on operating and controlling the craft, then drive solo for 30 minutes around a buoyed triangular course with on-water supervision. The operator has held a maritime license since 1983 and supplies wetsuits and buoyancy aids. Children can drive from age 12, though passengers must be at least 8 and the driver at least 18.

The experience

The session starts with full instruction on how to operate the jet ski, control it safely and follow local maritime regulations. You then take the controls yourself for 30 minutes, driving solo around a large triangular course marked by buoys in the sheltered bay. An on-water supervisor stays with you throughout, and wetsuits and buoyancy aids are provided.

The operator sits right on the beach, which means there are no changing facilities or lockers on site. You'll need to arrive already in swimwear, shorts or activewear and travel light. The setup keeps things simple and lets you get straight onto the water. High tides can submerge the beach, so check conditions before you go.
