The experience
The tour starts at the operator's docks, where your guide fits you with a lifejacket and walks you through a sea kayaking orientation before you launch. You'll paddle at a relaxed pace (the guide sets the speed to match whatever skill level shows up that day) with stops built in for photos, rest and water breaks. The route takes you through the Inner Harbour, then into the Upper Harbour and the historic Gorge Waterway, where you pass the Fairmont Empress, Victoria's Harbour Airport and the Legislative Building. Wildlife sightings are common: seals, otters, herons and eagles move through these waters year-round.
All kayaking equipment is provided, including the kayak itself, paddle and lifejacket. Most tours run in tandem kayaks (two-person boats) to keep the experience smooth for mixed ability groups, though single kayaks may be used if numbers work out unevenly. Your guide handles the route and timing. Start times shift to match the sunset each day. The tour requires a minimum of two paddlers to run, and children aged 5 and up can join if they meet the age requirements: kids 10–15 must have an adult along, and younger children need a parent or legal guardian in their kayak.
