The tour starts at Cape Spear, where you'll stand at the easternmost point in North America and watch the North Atlantic break against the rocks. The guides point out the WW2 cannons installed to defend the continent and Newfoundland's first lighthouse, built around 1834. From there, the route moves through Petty Harbour, a working fishing village and home to Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea, before climbing Signal Hill to Cabot Tower. The views from up here reach across St. John's, the harbour, the ocean, Fort Amherst and back out to Cape Spear. The kind of vantage that makes the geography stick.
