The experience
The van picks you up from one of three locations: Delta Hotel Downtown Calgary at 7:30am, Northwinds Hotel Canmore at 8:20am, or Mount Royal Hotel Bus Parking Lot at 9:35am. Arrive five minutes early and you're on your way to Lake Louise, the turquoise centerpiece of Banff National Park. From there the route moves to Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake and Johnston Canyon: each stop built in so you have time to photograph and explore without rushing back to the vehicle. A licensed, insured driver handles every curve of the mountain roads while smaller group sizes per van mean less crowding and more comfort than larger tour buses.
After the lake circuit, you get an hour of free time in downtown Banff to walk around, grab lunch or sit with a coffee before heading back. The return follows the same pickup route in reverse, dropping you at your original location. The vehicle is cleaned and sanitized between trips. Note that Moraine Lake closes for the season on October 13, so plan accordingly if you're traveling in fall.
Is this one for you?The shared van format works best if you're traveling solo or as a couple and don't mind riding with other travelers: smaller groups per vehicle mean more comfort than a full-size coach, and the fixed pickup times from Calgary, Canmore or Banff mean you don't need to arrange your own transport to the mountains.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How much time do you get at each lake on this tour?
The itinerary builds in enough time at Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake and Johnston Canyon for you to photograph and explore each one without being rushed back to the van. The exact duration at each stop varies depending on the day's flow, but the schedule is designed so you're not waiting around or feeling pressured to move on.
What is Lake Louise actually like when you arrive?
Lake Louise is a glacial lake with water so turquoise it looks unreal in photographs. The shoreline is accessible and busy, especially midday, so arriving early in the morning (the 7:30am pickup from Calgary gets you there before the crowds) makes a difference for both photography and finding a quiet spot to stand and look.
Can you choose which pickup location works for your hotel?
You pick one of three departure points when you book: Delta Hotel Downtown Calgary at 7:30am, Northwinds Hotel Canmore at 8:20am, or Mount Royal Hotel Bus Parking Lot in Banff at 9:35am. Choose whichever is closest to where you're staying, and that's where the van collects you and drops you off at the end of the day.
Is there time to eat during the day?
The tour includes an hour of free time in downtown Banff after the lake stops, which is when most travelers grab lunch or a snack. There are cafes and restaurants throughout Banff, so you can eat then rather than during the driving portions of the day.
When does Moraine Lake close for the season?
Moraine Lake closes on October 13 each year, so if you're booking a fall trip, plan your visit before that date if seeing Moraine Lake is important to you. The other lakes and Johnston Canyon remain accessible year-round.
