Watch the world's highest tides drain and refill a landscape twice a day
A seven-hour guided tour of the Bay of Fundy from Halifax explores the tidal phenomenon that moves 3,680 billion cubic feet of water in and out twice daily, stopping at wineries in the bay area, the tidal flats near Hall's Harbour (a working fishing village founded as a pirate base in 1779), and the Acadian Museum at Grand Pré. The experience
The Bay of Fundy's shape funnels ocean currents into the highest tides on Earth. On this tour, you see what that means in practice: boats and ships left stranded on exposed flats, then refloated hours later when billions of gallons pour back in. The geological forces that created this happen twice every day, and the tour stops at viewpoints and the tidal flats themselves so you can walk on the seabed that was underwater hours before.
Hall's Harbour is the working fishing village where you spend time, not a recreated tourist version, but a real place where fishermen still make their living from the sea. The village began in 1779 as a pirate base run by Samuel Hall and his crew of privateers. Locals will talk about that history if they have time between their work. You also visit wineries in the bay area and stop at the Acadian Museum at Grand Pré, where the 1855 deportation of Acadians from Nova Scotia is documented and explained. The route and stops adjust for weather and time, so no two tours follow exactly the same path.
Hotel pickup from Halifax is included, and the guide speaks English throughout. The full day runs seven hours.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (5 to 17 years); Child (under 5).
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What are the tidal flats like when you actually walk on them?
The tidal flats near Hall's Harbour are the seabed exposed at low tide: the ground where water stood hours before and will stand again. You walk on sand and mud that the receding tide has left behind, and the scale of the Bay of Fundy's tidal range becomes physical rather than abstract.
Is Hall's Harbour set up for tourists, or is it a real working village?
Hall's Harbour is a real fishing village where people work for their living, not a heritage site built for visitors. Fishermen and other residents are usually occupied with their work, but many will take time to talk with visitors about the village and its history as a pirate base.
What's included in the seven-hour tour?
The tour includes an English-speaking guide, hotel pickup from Halifax, stops at wineries in the bay area, access to the tidal flats, and entry to the Acadian Museum at Grand Pré. Unscheduled stops may be added depending on time and weather conditions.
