Step-by-step itinerary

Backcountry dining in Whistler mountains

  • Arrive at Brandywine base facility
  • Gear up with warm clothing
  • Board snowcat for mountain transport
  • Travel to remote log cabin
  • Enjoy gourmet four-course meal

The experience

How do you get a four-course dinner into the backcountry? A snowcat ride. You start at the base facility in Brandywine, gear up in extra layers if you need them, then board the snowcat for the journey into Callaghan Valley. The snowcat carries you deep into the mountains under the night sky, and the cabin waits at the end: a log structure with a wood fire already burning and the smell of food being prepared just for your group.

The meal is the point. Your private chefs have two main paths: a decadent cheese fondue, or a Pinnacle-style course where you choose between steak or fresh salmon, each dish made to order. Coffee and tea come after. The whole experience runs about three and a half hours from base to cabin and back, and the cozy, firelit setting is built for groups celebrating together: birthdays, anniversaries, a crew that wants to mark something. The minimum is eight guests, which is also what makes the private chefs and the dedicated snowcat possible.

This works for all fitness levels and children as young as three. Bring your own alcohol if you want it. The cabin provides the warmth, the food, and the guide who knows the mountains.

Top questions

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

How far into the backcountry does the snowcat take us?

The snowcat travels from the Brandywine base facility deep into Callaghan Valley under the night sky. The exact distance varies, but you're traveling far enough that the cabin feels genuinely remote: surrounded by snow-blanketed mountains with no other lights visible.

Can we bring kids, and how cold does it get?

Children as young as three can participate, and the experience suits all fitness levels. You'll want extra warm clothing (the snowcat ride is in the open mountain air at night), and the cabin has a wood fire going when you arrive, so you warm up once you're inside.

What if some of us want steak and others want salmon?

The chefs prepare individual plates, so each guest chooses steak or salmon for the Pinnacle-style main course. If your group prefers the cheese fondue instead, that's an option for everyone.

Is there a minimum group size, and can we book for just a few people?

The tour requires a minimum of eight guests to operate. This is what allows the private chefs and dedicated snowcat transport to run just for your group.

What's included in the price, and what do we need to bring?

The four-course meal, private chefs, guide, snowcat transport, and coffee or tea are all included. Bring your own alcohol if you want it. The cabin does not serve drinks. Dress warmly for the snowcat ride.
