The experience

The boat leaves the Halifax Waterfront and heads toward McNab's Island, where your captain takes you to the fishing grounds. You'll spend the 2 hours casting for cod, pollock, mackerel and other species that inhabit these waters. The captain handles the navigation and knows which spots are producing that day. Your job is to work the rod and feel for the bite.

All fishing equipment comes with you (rods, tackle, bait), so you show up and fish. The captain identifies what you've caught as it comes up, and you keep the fish depending on the species and size. If you've never held a fishing rod over open water, this is the setup that makes it possible: no gear to buy, no technique to master beforehand, just the water and the fish.

What’s included

  • All fishing equipment including rods, tackle and bait.
  • a captain with local knowledge of the fishing grounds.
  • identification of your catch.
  • a 2-hour outing on the water.
