Learn to ski on Vitosha Mountain in a single day with a professional instructor, starting from a Sofia hotel pickup and ending back in the city. The lesson takes place on beginner slopes near Aleko hut, where you'll spend four hours learning basic technique and practice runs. Equipment is provided, and the group stays small for personal attention.

The experience

Your instructor meets you at Aleko hut after a 30-minute drive from Sofia and a cabin lift ride up the mountain. You'll get fitted with skis, boots and poles: no need to bring your own or rent separately elsewhere. The instructor evaluates what you can do and builds a plan around your group's level, starting with basic drills on flat terrain before moving to easy slopes where the real practice happens. How far you progress depends entirely on what your body can do that day. The instructor decides when you're ready to move.

The four-hour lesson includes a lunch break at the hut, where you can eat, drink and rest before heading back down or continuing to practice. By the end, you'll have taken real runs on actual ski slopes, not just a bunny hill: the difference between watching skiing and doing it. Afterward, the van takes you back to your hotel or anywhere else in Sofia.

This works best if you have at least moderate fitness and no serious heart or lung issues. Children from age five can join. The cabin lift and the van are both included. You only need to arrange lunch if you want something beyond what the hut offers.
