The experience
You arrive in Gorno Draglishte, a village built on history and tradition in the Bansko area. Local hosts (energetic grandmothers who know every recipe by heart) greet you and walk you through the afternoon. This is not a cooking class where you watch. You make banitsa from scratch, prepare local meat dishes, and help with homemade desserts. The kitchen is theirs, the techniques are generations old, and the food is what they actually eat.
Between cooking, you learn the horo, a traditional circle dance that moves through the village rhythm. You dress in nosii, the embroidered folklore costumes, and take photos in them. The rakia comes out, locally brewed and strong, and you taste it alongside the dishes you made. A few glasses of local wine follow. By the end of two hours, you have made souvenirs to take home, tasted what Bulgarian food tastes like when it is not restaurant food, and moved the way people here move at celebrations.
Choose whether you want hotel pickup from Bansko included or prefer to meet the hosts directly in the village. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and nine other languages. Infants can come in a pram. Children from age 4 can participate fully.
