The experience
You're picked up from your Mostar hotel and driven to Blagaj, where the Buna River springs from the earth in a surge of turquoise water so clear it looks unreal. The Tekija (a Dervish house built into the cliff face) sits right at the water's edge, and you walk down to it at whatever pace suits you. The caves, the spring itself, the dramatic stone walls: there's no script here, no "five minutes and back to the bus." You stay as long as the moment holds.
From there, you walk into Počitelj, a medieval town of narrow cobblestone streets and stone houses that UNESCO protects as cultural heritage. The fortress sits above it, and the climb up rewards you with views across the Neretva River valley. This is the kind of place where you stop more than once just to stand still. After Počitelj, you head to Kravica Waterfalls: a cascade of emerald-green pools fed by a 25-meter drop. Swimming is seasonal, but even if the water's too cold, there are wooden paths and viewpoints where you can sit and do nothing for a while, which is kind of the point. The tour also includes a stop at Fortica Hill, a viewpoint over Mostar and the surrounding valley that catches most people off guard.
Your guide is local and speaks English, and the whole day is built around moving at a human pace. You get bottled water and snacks throughout. Lunch isn't included, so you can eat where and when you want. The vehicle is air-conditioned and comfortable, and pickup and drop-off cover Mostar and the surrounding area. There's no rushing, no stress. Just the kind of day where you actually remember how it felt.

What is the Tekija at Blagaj, and why is it built into the cliff?
The Tekija is a Dervish house (a place of spiritual retreat in Ottoman heritage) built directly into the cliffside at the Buna River spring, one of Europe's most powerful karst springs. The location itself is the point: the water, the caves, the dramatic natural setting all part of the experience.
Can I swim at Kravica Waterfalls, and is there time to relax there?
Swimming is seasonal and depends on water temperature, but the tour builds in time to relax by the pools whether you swim or not. There are wooden paths and viewpoints where you can sit, take photos, or simply rest: the schedule isn't rushed.
How much walking is involved in this tour?
