The experience
You arrive at a limestone home in Bermuda where a local cook meets you in the kitchen: the heart of the house. For three hours, you work through the steps of a traditional Bermudian breakfast: slicing, dicing, peeling, boiling and mashing the components of codfish and potatoes, the avocado butter sauce, the sautéed onions and stewed tomatoes, and the eggs. The guide walks you through each stage, talking about how the dish fits into Bermuda's food culture and island life as you cook.
This is a hands-on class, not a demonstration. You're the one holding the knife and tending the pan, working in the actual kitchen where a Bermudian family cooks every day. The air-conditioned space and the small group size mean you have room to move and ask questions. When the cooking is done, you sit down and eat the breakfast you made, which is where the real conversation often happens: the guide and the other people in the class, sharing a meal in someone's home instead of a restaurant or a tour bus.
Pickup is included, so you don't need to arrange transport to the house. Bring an appetite and clothes you don't mind getting cooking smells on. Everything else (the ingredients, the instruction, the meal) is there waiting.

Is this one for you?You do the cooking yourself under the guide's instruction in a real home kitchen, so this suits anyone who wants to learn by doing rather than watch a demonstration. The small-group format and the local host's home create a more personal experience than a commercial cooking school would offer, which appeals to travelers looking for a genuine connection to the place and the people.
